Good dresser, but small Mar 23, 2012

This dresser was a little smaller than I expected. I got it for my son's nursery, and it is big enough to hold the changing pad on top and a basket for his changing needs beside it. But the drawers are rather small, it will most likely have to be replaced in the future with a larger one as his clothes get bigger. I must say that the drawers pull in and out very smoothly and feels quality. It came super fast, only a couple of days. It was packaged nicely, everything in good condition. My husband did not enjoy putting together this dresser. There were a lot of steps and a lot of pieces. It took two men a couple of hours to get it all put together. I ordered a Davincie Kalani crib in espresso along with this and the color matches exactly.

I had first seen this product on a different company's website, but bought through Amazon because of the free shipping (which was surprisingly fast for using Super Saver shipping; we received it in about a week, I think). I knew it would be on the smaller side (compared to other, more expensive, baby dressers/changers), but it would be more versatile to us that way. I wanted this particular dresser/changer because it doesn't look like something for a baby's room, and after our child has outgrown it, we will use it in a different part of the house. My husband (who has a technical, engineering background) unpacked all 70+ pounds of it and assembled it by himself over the course of a few hours. He said the instructions were atrocious, but he was able to put it together, and it looks perfect. I think he had to take out some screws because he used the wrong ones for a certain part because the instructions were so difficult to interpret. There was no damage in shipping, and everything fit together well. He did have to trim a little off one of the backing panels, but that wasn't a big deal (and wouldn't be seen anyway). All I did was vacuum off the little leftover styrofoam balls that clung to the boards from static. Up close, you can tell the finish is a printed image of stained wood-grain, but it still looks very nice as part of a room.

This dresser is beautiful, great colour, matches really well with the DaVinci Rowan crib we also bought in expresso. Parts were well packaged, some minor scratches but were in places that weren't very visible and surface is also very easy to scratch during assembly. My husband and father-in-law put it together in a bit over an hour with some frustration as the instructions weren't very clear, screwing and unscrewing several times just to get it right! They give very few extra screws, etc. maybe only one screw extra! lucky we didn't need any! Other than the assembly, this is a great piece of furniture for our son's room as it doesn't take up much room at all! Would recommend this for anyone's nursery!

Looked high and low for a changing table that matched my espresso crib and dresser that didn't offer a matching piece. This matched perfectly. The quality is a lot better than I'd hoped for. Though solid, I was able to put it together 5 months pregnant with no issues at all. Just make sure you assemble it over a carpet if possible or else you'll wind up putting scratches all over it.
Yes, it's a little small but that's what I was looking for. My hubby is 6'3", I'm 5'4" and the height is perfectly fine for us both. I can fit a basket at the end of the changing pad that fits a full sized wipe tub, a medium sized baby lotion, a large round tub of Balmex and a medium sized Purell hand sanitizer. I use the top drawer to store his diapers in 2 individual baskets I purchased as well as a Babies R Us large box of scented sacks for his poopie diapers. I don't miss the top drawer space because I have a tall dresser in the room. The side compartment serves as space for diaper, lotion and wipe over stock.
Only issue is I can see through the side door to the bottom part of the piece but no biggie. Overall, a GREAT buy, definitely recommend.

Similar to AmyW's experience, I also received this product damaged, twice. Each time, it was the same middle wooden panel that was completely cracked and splintered-- no hope in salvaging this with wood glue and nails. The actual shipping box the parts came in looked in great shape, so I guess I'd have to blame Davinci for it's poor packaging. Amazon was great with the return/replacement and even had UPS come to the door to pick it up (the box is about 80lbs, so it would have been a huge hassle to drop it off). Huge disappointment, as we waited a while for this product since it was back-ordered in January.
